Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are expecting their side’s solid form to continue this weekend, But this Arsenal Key player has being confirmed with a torn ligament injury during the international break.
Arsenal have been handed a fresh injury absentee to pile onto their already tough season as Shkodran Mustafi is set to miss out during the Gunners’ Premier League match against Watford this weekend.
The defender has suffered a torn ligament while on international duty for Germany during the past week. The 25-year-old suffered the injury during the first half of the German’s encounter against Azerbaijan and at first it looked like a minor muscle problem. But the national team’s manager Joachim Low later confirmed that the player has suffered a torn ligament.

While the full extent of the injury is yet to be known but generally a torn ligament means that a player will be out of action for a long period of time. This injury though poses a bit of a selection headache for Arsene Wenger. The Gunners’ manager has opted for a 3 man back line for this season and if he wishes to continue with the same formation then he might possibly have to struggle to find proper replacements.
Both Calum Chambers and Laurent Koscielny are nursing injuries and will be unavailable for selection against the Hornets while Nacho Monreal also remains a doubt for the match. This means that as of now Wenger only has Rob Holding and Per Mertesacker as his first choice central defenders.
