Chelsea will host Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium in their Premier League, as key players are set to miss out of the clash from both teams when clash on Saturday.
The Blues will be without Defender David Luiz who is serving his three-match domestic suspension for his dismissal against Arsenal, with Andreas Christensen poised to deputise. Midfielder Danny Drinkwater (calf) is the only definite injury absentee.
Sergio Aguero will miss the tie, he was involved in a car crash in Amsterdam and full-back Benjamin Mendy is also unavailable due to a knee injury while Vincent Kompany is not fit, even though he has been called up by Belgium for their upcoming matches with Bosnia and Herzegovina and Cyprus.
HEAD TO HEAD
Chelsea did the double over City last season, winning 3-1 at the Etihad Stadium before an Eden Hazard double was enough for a 2-1 victory in west London.
In fact, Chelsea has the overall edge in the recent head-to-heads having lost only one of their last seven Premier League games against Manchester City at Stamford Bridge (W4 D2).
Chelsea has been impressive so far having won four out of their last five meetings including their win against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League.
The Cityzens has been so good this season aside from their draw to Everton this season they have recorded wins in all their games with an impressive scoring rate.
“I have great respect for Pep and I think he’s the best. I like to watch his side’s games.”
Conte set to start formidable duo against Manchester City
“We know very well that Guardiola’s team likes to dominate the game, have a lot of possession, and create many chances to score.”
“He tries to create a squad with a lot of technical and creative players to try and deliver his ideas on the pitch.”
“No way [will Kompany be fit to play against Chelsea],” he said.
“He didn’t make one training session with us since one month ago, the Gibraltar game.
“I spoke to Roberto Martinez [Belgium manager]. He told me he will go there to meet with the Belgium doctors but he is coming back.
“Of course he cannot play with Belgium.”
