Mateo Kovacic has reportedly verbally agreed to join Liverpool.
The Real Madrid star started less than half of his side’s games in La Liga last season and is struggling to force his way into Zinedine Zidane’s thinking this time around.
Kovacic, 23, could have been seen as a replacement for Philippe Coutinho if he had moved to Barcelona over the summer – but that deal appears to be off.
Spanish outlet Diario Gol claim that Kovacic has spoken to Liverpool about the possibility of joining and would be happy to join.
However, the fact Coutinho is set to stay at Anfield could put a blocker on the deal.
