Report: Players Ratings And Arsenal Man Of The Match Against Tottenham
What a win! We surely didn’t expect that, but it is deserved. In just 5 minutes, Arsenal changed the game by scoring two goals by Mustafi and Sanchez and securing the three points. We can say the first half was the best performance for Arsenal by far this season, and the worst performance for Tottenham this season. However, there are some doubts about the goals whether they were offside or not.
The last time Arsenal led by two goals at the Emirates Stadium against Tottenham was in 2010 where Arsenal lost 3-2. Arsenal dominated the first half with four corners and two goals while Tottenham had zero corners and goals. Even though Tottenham dominated in possession with 53% to 47% to Arsenal.
Petr Cech: Saved Kane’s shot, good match and had several other blocks and saves. 7/10
Laurent Koscielny: defended well and saved Arsenal from several dangerous balls, and tried to go forward sometimes. 7/10
Nacho Monreal: Average match, nothing much to do. Booked at the end. 6/10
Shkodran Mustafi: We needed him back in the defense, but he helped in the offense as well and scored a goal. However, booked in the second half. 7/10
Hector Bellerin: He was trying to help offensively and defensively as well. His side, right side, was Arsenal’s most dangerous side. 7 /10
Sead Kolasinac: He played as a central defender sometimes. A good match, nothing much to do though. 7/10
Granit Xhaka: Average match, better performance than before but we didn’t notice him playing a lot today. 6/10
Aaron Ramsey: An average match, we didn’t see him going forward a lot in the first half. In addition, On the 31st minute, he was able to pass the ball to Sanchez to score from a free kick, but he didn’t. Booked as well. 6/10
Mesut Ozil: He showed some movement, unlike Manchester City match, and had an assist. In the second half, he was one of the best and most dangerous players. 8/10
Alexis Sanchez: Sometimes he shows bad performance and misplaced passes, and sometimes shows energy and skills. That’s still not the Sanchez we know. He got booked but scored a goal as well. However, in the second half, especially after the goal, he improved a bit and was dangerous especially at the 77th minute he was close to scoring again. 8/10
Alexander Lacazette: Was a bit selfish in Arsenal’s first real chance where he missed it, he was able to pass to Sanchez or Ozil to score, but just shot the ball above the bar. Missed some other chances as well but ended up with an assist. He was subbed off, like usual. 6/10
Man of the match: Almost all players were good today, or at least average such as Xhaka. Cech had some brilliant saves, and Sanchez scored the winning goal for Arsenal. I would go for Sanchez. He had 5 shots on target, the most on the pitch by 4 shots difference, even though he isn’t at his top level.
Ozil was named man of the match.
Arsene Wenger (manager): He gave Arsenal a win in one of the most crucial matches for many reasons, and it’s importance to Arsenal fans. He deserves a 7/10. He showed some tactical changes today as well.
MeanWhile Here is the Big Question..
